City Market in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
View down the River Seine from the top of the Notre Dame Cathedral
Ships plied slate-gray ocean waters; bombers dropped their salvos an gray patchwork landscapes while GIs fought their battles on mud-gray fields and in monochromatic jungles. Add to that the black and white pictures my oldest brother brought back from his tour of duty in Germany and you might understand why I was overwhelmed with all the color I saw when I arrived in Europe. My first few rolls of film were in black and white but I soon switched to color transparencies and never looked back.
